DESCRIPTION: EPW - James Poole & Co, 33 Spencer Street, Clerkenwell, London, keyless free-sprung lever with centre-seconds, 52mm, heavy 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1881, incuse "H W" marking for casemaker Henry Webb, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-pin-set, fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, 19J, gilt mvt, s#6432. Comes with a James Poole leather box with accolades listed to lid liner. Gross weight of assembled watch 86.0 dwt (133.8 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright plates with long scratch to center, some scattered micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with some loss to its signature which is most notable to the serial number marking which is no longer legible, few spots of mild wispy haze in glaze reflection when viewed at angle; excellent hands; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engine turning detail with only slight reduction at portions of rear shoulder; bow pivots semi-freely, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with few small edge nicks; box hinge is missing its lower securing pins and has come fully off of bottom section leaving box in two pieces, recommend repair of this issue, otherwise fine cosmetic condition overall, exterior with some light marring, good button latch, interior with pad under watch mostly missing its pull ribbon.
